Our Cabernet Sauvignon block called Madrone-B consists of a few hundred vines grafted with a mystery clone brought to California from Bordeaux many years ago. We don't know exactly where it came from, but we are have been making wine from it for several years, keeping it separate in order to judge its quality. It does seem somewhat distinctive and so we have increased the number of vines in recent years. There is not much of this wine, but we are taking pleasure in watching the various vintages as they develop.

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (Madrone-B) delighted us right from the start with its spicy varietal character, and continues to develop nicely in the bottle. Lovely oak.
